§ 38-2. Office-holding prohibited.

Such city police officer shall not hold any office in the city, as defined in state law, but he shall be an employee of the city; provided, however, that such city police officer shall be a peace officer as defined in Vernon's Ann. C.C.P. art. 2.12, with all of the powers and duties conferred upon peace officers under the laws of the state.
